College Likes/Dislikes
Things I like about college:
1. Interesting classes. Not much more you can say about this.
2. Good food. Much better than Mom’s.
3. Fun people to party with..and by party I mean study party.
4. Boys. Again, not much more you can say about this.
5. Staying up really late, knowing you don’t have class until 2:30 pm the next day.
6. Freedom to do whatever you want…within...

The History Behind Computer Symbols →
Really cool PopSci article about the how the symbols that we associate with our computers everyday (like the power button or the command key on a mac) actually came to be used.

Plugged In
If it’s possible to be addicted to technology, then yes, I probably am.
I admit that I love the internet, I love my cell phone, I love my iPod touch, I love my Macbookpro…I love it all. I admit that I’m a pretty open person in that, I’m all for the open exchange of information through technology. I enjoy using facebook, twitter, tumblr, texting, email, etc. to reach out to...

techspotlight:
technipol:
“According to a Pew study, 21% of Americans claim that they don’t use the internet (and 5% still connect using dial-up). How is this possible? I think I’ve even seen homeless people peruse the internet on their iPhones.
Well, 34% of those non-users actually live in a house with internet access. Other than that, 48% think the web holds information irrelevant to...

Phone Conversation with Virgin Mobile
Virgin Mobile Customer Service Person (VM): Hello, how can I help you today?
Me: My phone is messed up. The texting won't go through, and when it does, it is totally sporadic. Some people will receive my messages while most people don't. And my friend who has a prepaid phone can only text me through picture messages. I called 4 times yesterday and we reset the text settings, had the phone reprogrammed and headquarters is resetting the account. I was calling to check on the status of that.
VM: What is your phone number?
Me: **********
VM: Okay, so what is the problem ma'am?
Me: Are you being serious right now?

The Reasons Virgin Mobile Annoys Me (in List Form)
Virgin Mobile Annoys Me Because:
-I bought a brand new phone, and the texting was sporadic. The phone would text some people, but wouldn’t text others. Some people’s responses would get back to me, while most wouldn’t.
-I spent 4 days on the phone with Virgin Mobile to try and fix it.
-They took away my texting for 72 hours (actually longer) for “headquarters” to...

Defining "Genius"..Or not
I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts, “Stuff You Should Know” and the topic was genius, and what defines or constitutes a genius. This is a topic that is really interesting for me, since I have a lot of friends who are highly intelligent/geniuses themselves. The Greco-Roman meaning of the word “genius” was more a measure of someone’s enthusiasm (i.e. if...

Engadget Reviews BlackBerry Torch. →
nerdcast:
The company seems convinced that it’s got a better idea about what its customers want and how a smartphone should act in 2010, but we can’t say we agree. The Torch seems sluggish, underpowered, and dated from a hardware design standpoint, and BlackBerry 6, despite its new features and polish, still feels woefully behind the curve.
Oof.

New Word of the Week: Computery
Since I feel that the English language is not all encompassing, and does not allow me to completely express myself, I will sometimes create new words to do so. This probably won’t be a weekly installment, just whenever I’m feeling creative.
Computery: Adj. Relating to all things computer.
In a sentence: It’s funny when boys argue about computery OS (Windows vs. Apple vs....
